me and my satellite – uncanny valley girls
The verdict
“uncanny valley girls turn a love letter to a dog into a shimmering, synth-kissed indie rock anthem”
'me and my satellite' opens with a jangle and a pulse, guitar lines threading through 80s-inflected synth textures that give the whole thing the perfect indie glow. a song about devotion, written for a dog named liza, and there's something disarming about how earnestly it commits to that. the arrangement builds with a touch of swagger, a side of noisy indie energy against the most beautiful golden age indie melody. it's a beautifully, bright, propulsive single with a whole lot of heart.
uncanny valley girls is a south east london project built around singer-songwriter michael bissett, backed by a rotating cast of collaborators who bring each song to life differently. since 2018, they've become a fixture on london's grassroots circuit, playing venues like the shacklewell arms, the lexington and the ivy house. the songs cover capitalism, misery, sex, and that beloved dog, basically all the classics, and we hope there's a whole lot more coming.
thank u for making this uncanny valley girls 🐕
