om bhur bhuvah swaha – reachel singh

The verdict

“reachel singh turns an ancient vedic mantra into a gorgeous, patient meditation, a calm stroll through a percussive and voice-led cloud”
the single cover: a star-filled silhouette dancing against a deep orange sunset, with the om symbol above her
'om bhur bhuvah swaha', out now.

'om bhur bhuvah swaha' takes the vedic chant and shapes it into something soft and patient. singh's voice sits high and close in the mix, keeping the mantra immediate while gentle hand percussion settles into a downtempo pulse beneath it. there's a subtle head nod quality to the rhythm that never disturbs the song's meditative pull. it's produced wonderfully, and singh chose this mantra for its protective intention, describing the chant as a 'washing machine for thoughts,' and that plainspoken image lands: repetition as a way to interrupt mental loops and make space. it's a wonderful, warm track.

reachel singh is a new york city based artist whose life and music run on the same track. raised between indian heritage and dutch culture, she developed her practice through teaching, travelling, songwriting and studying sound healing traditions from east and west. this single is part of a larger project she has spent three years creating with vinay, whom she calls her 'soul music brother.' ten songs are now ready to roll out over the coming months with support from ommm. a gem, and we're so pleased to her her on the blog.
