no question – danny lee
The verdict
“danny lee delivers a stunning meditation on leaving one life behind for another in vulnerable alternative rock”
'no question' captures that raw, uncertain space between the life you've built and the one you were made for. danny lee wrote it while still working as an electrician, feeling the pull toward music even as he showed up to the job site each day. the track opens with energetic alternative rock guitars, some pretty giant drums, and i love the momentum and drive. lyrically, it's honest about the struggle of letting go, about faith tested in the space between callings. the vocals deliver the goods, building that tension wonderfully. it's a track about courage earned slowly, and it lands with real conviction.
danny lee is an independent singer-songwriter from mount holly, north carolina, drawing on years of military service and work as an electrician to shape songs about faith, love and sacrifice. in april 2026 he founded vision redemption records, marking a new chapter after years of keeping his music on the shelf. his setup is simple: an ipad, garageband, one microphone and a schecter diamond series electric guitar. there's something honest about this, and we really love it.

delphinus and dippers – pisgah
The verdict
“pisgah crafts a remarkable meditation on wonder and despair, one of autumn's most emotionally honest alt-rock singles”
'delphinus and dippers' sits in that uncomfortable space where wonder and despair share the same view. pisgah wrote it during the sessions for her second album faultlines, released december 2025, but held it back as one of three b-sides she's rolling out before the year ends. the arrangement is just lovely; all shimmering, dreamy indie that i love, with a cinematic vocal, wrestling with how to feel grateful for an astonishing world while the darkness keeps crowding in. it follows 'piedmont', released in august, with 'tower' still to come in november. it's a beautifully weighted, reflective single.
pisgah is the solo project of brittney jenkins, a singer-songwriter who grew up in the american south and moved to greater london in 2014. she didn't start writing songs until she taught herself guitar, and those early pieces became her 2022 debut call louder for me when you call. her influences run from the alt-country ache of jason molina and sparklehorse through aimee mann's wistful pop to the darker edges of daughter and the cure. it's absolutely dreamy, so check it out here.

palazzo – forrm
The verdict
“forrm delivers one of the season's most striking art rock singles, all venetian atmosphere and cinematic pulse”
'palazzo' opens with borrowed film tension, which makes sense given forrm's roots in both music and cinema. recorded at bloom studios in paris, it's built around live instrumentation threaded with electronics, and the result is honestly fantastic. it sits somewhere between art rock swagger and post-punk restraint. it's part of a wider world of contemporary art and film that firouz farmanfarmaian has been constructing for years, and has a fun video too. the standout is the groove here; there's a slight nod to LCD Soundsystem, but a bit more glam. it's a striking, atmosphere-heavy single.
forrm is the project of iranian-french artist, filmmaker and musician firouz farmanfarmaian, working out of paris. the project moves between alternative rock, electronics and cinematic sound, with releases including forrm nu forrm, galactica, junkie wayz and nomads prayer. the latter served as the soundtrack to the award-winning documentary path. forrm has developed work across france, new york, venice and morocco, and favours independent radio and specialist press over playlist-driven promotion. it's a genuine vibe, love it.
