bring the madness – robbie rosen x interstate snake
The verdict
“robbie rosen x interstate snake deliver a broadcast-ready anthem that balances pop brightness with hip-hop grit and a thriller-sized bass line”
'bring the madness' already had momentum before cbs sports gave it prime placement during march madness broadcasts, and that sync makes sense for a track built around game-day energy and competitive drive. pretty cool, huh? musically, rosen's vocal sits high and bright, carrying the hook with stadium-ready lift that attracts attention. underneath, there's a bass line that echoes 'thriller' just enough to connect to the video's pop-horror imagery without pulling the whole thing into pastiche. eli lev's video leans into the tension with graveyard scenes and possessed dancing before everything opens up into sunlight. it's a brilliant, kinetic single.
robbie rosen is a new york based artist, songwriter and pianist who first broke through as a top 8 finalist on american idol season 10, with more than 150 million spotify streams tied to his work across edm and pop. interstate snake, born haris barekzai, emigrated from kabul as a child and represents woodbridge, virginia with a deep, raspy delivery shaped by lived experience. rob aster's rrhot and idreamology operation brought the two together here, and the pairing really works. a great track.

give it to you - ft. d-nice – mýa
The verdict
“mýa and d-nice deliver an irresistible funk-drenched beauty that's groovy musical sugar”
'give it to you' opens with d-nice playing host on 'retrospect live', dropping references to block parties, roller skates and feel-good music before mýa takes the wheel. the groove is an absolute musical spoon of musical honey, drawing from the minneapolis sound, prince, jam and lewis and vanity 6 etc. her confidence carries the whole track, and it's cool how mýa wrote and recorded it back in 2016, then brought it forward for retrospect ten years later. the video, shot outdoors in venice beach, leans into that same sunlit looseness: grainy visuals nodding to breakin', california light everywhere. it's playful, direct and built for your next sunset cocktail.
mýa is from maryland and has been making records since the late '90s. retrospect is her tenth studio album and her first in eight years. she recently signed with wme for worldwide representation across music, touring, film and brand partnerships, following a grammy win for 'lady marmalade' and a sag award shared with the chicago ensemble cast. recent videos for 'just a little bit' and 'asap' have already shaped the album's visual world. this is a career that never slowed down, a fantastic track. more please, mýa.

she’s cosmic light – m & j
The verdict
“m & j craft a sun-soaked deep house gem that feels like golden hour stretching into forever”
'she's cosmic light' opens with a warm, pulsing guitar that settles into your chest before the vocals arrive. the production sits somewhere between deep house and chillout, built for late afternoon sets where the sun is dropping and nobody wants the moment to end. there's a spaciousness to it that lets each element breathe, and the track never rushes toward a payoff it doesn't need. lyrically it leans into that feeling of being completely present with someone, a connection that makes everything else fall away. the arrangement builds without ever getting cluttered, adding layers that feel earned rather than thrown in. a lovely, glowing single.
m & j are an alt pop duo from bondi, australia, writing songs rooted in personal experience and the natural landscape around them. their music often draws on the flora, fauna and coastline of australia, and they shoot all their own cover art in the bush and by the ocean. the focus is always on lyrics first, building stories that feel specific but land as something universal. there's a warmth to how they talk about their work that comes through in the music itself. get this on your groovy house playlist, you will not regret it. a beaut.

chameleon – sam macdonald
The verdict
“sam macdonald and maya jordan bottle unexpected connection in a stunning shimmering disco pop debut”
'chameleon' opens on a pulse of shimmering synths before a funky bassline locks the whole thing into place. the production has that warm, relaxed quality great nu-disco has, but there's real drive underneath it, a groove that builds without ever feeling pushy. maya jordan's lovely pop-adjacent vocals sit right at the centre, carrying a lyric about a real love-at-first-sight moment at a grassroots music jam. the arrangement gives everything room to breathe, and when that chorus lands? it's real euphoria. a joyful, groovy stunner.
sam macdonald is an award-winning producer from cambridge, england, named nmg producer of the year. his signature sound blends nu-disco groove with a laid-back warmth that never sacrifices momentum. this debut collaboration with british american maya jordan brings together his production instincts and her power pop delivery. definitely one to keep on your radar. a great single.

i wanna be your ex – noam peri
The verdict
“noam peri turns romantic confusion into a driving indie rock anthem with real emotional bite”
'i wanna be your ex' opens with synth arps that that mean business, locked into a rhythm that pulls you forward before noam peri's voice arrives with all its messy honesty intact. the song sits in that uncomfortable space of wanting someone back while knowing better, and the production matches that tension perfectly. catchy enough to sing along to, sharp enough to sting. there's a playful edge running through the chaos, melodies that stick around long after the track ends. the chorus lands with a force that makes you want to shout it at someone specific. it's a confident, emotionally charged single that doesn't flinch from the confusion it's describing. love it.
noam peri is a los angeles based queer indie rock artist drawing on 70s rock influences alongside electronic touches. she's built her sound through intimate performances at venues like the viper room lounge and breaking sound, bringing raw energy to every stage. her lyrics sit somewhere between cryptic and confessional, exploring heartbreak and self-discovery with a voice that feels distinctly her own. having studied and lived in hollywood, she pulls from the city's restless energy in ways that show. it's bags of fun, and it should do really well.
