introvertnever had – charlie sly
The verdict
“charlie sly turns the wreckage of an 11-year relationship into a stunning piece of hazy, vulnerable dream-pop”
'never had' is a song about giving everything to someone who never really saw you, and it aches in exactly the way that sounds. recorded entirely in sly's bedroom with a diy setup, carefully positioned microphones and homemade room treatment, the single builds a frankly wonderful hazy atmosphere. and it grooves along brilliantly, something that dream pop sometimes struggles with. the whole thing feels both intimate and expansive at once. the track charts the complicated process of letting go, and it does so with real honesty. it's a zinger of an atmospheric listen that its very easy to get lost in.
charlie sly is a cheltenham-based artist who's spent years transforming personal experiences into emotionally resonant indie music. working from a bedroom studio, often surrounded by rescue dogs from their international rescue service, sly has developed a sound blending hazy dream-pop textures with charged indie-rock vocals. the influences span mac demarco, creed and alice in chains. that emotional honesty is all over this one, and we really, really love it.
thank u for making this charlie sly 🌙
