'what else?' opens with that a smidge of post-punk urgency, sharp guitars and forward momentum, before colin potter's vocals land. in a lovely, yearning, smiths-esque drawl, he talks of this obsessive desire to reset everything, to shed your old self and become something new. the harmonies are great, the arrangement leans into its 80s and 90s rock influences without ever feeling like pastiche - it's very much in it's own lane. it's a brilliant, restless indie single.
blindness & light are based on anglesey, wales, though their lineup stretches across continents, with contributors from north yorkshire, argentina and japan. colin m potter leads the project on vocals, songwriting and guitar, pulling in friends on an ad hoc basis to fill out each recording. it's an eclectic setup that keeps the sound rocking along, and you can hear that collaborative spirit in how naturally everything locks together here. we love this single, and recommend it heartily.
