walked in – joey p.
joey p. serves up ‘walked in’, bringing melodic confidence through his sharp alt-r&b stunner
walked in returns as a reintroduced debut single with the energy of an artist taking a little glance back while definitely moving forward. rooted in chicago’s underground r&b and alternative pop scene, the track carries raw honesty, confident delivery and a clear sense of early creative fire being brought into a new chapter. it’s a real stunner , and the melody really shines through; perfect for your next late night drive.
friend of the blog joey p. is a chicago artist born joseph pacius, revisiting the song ahead of his 25th birthday as both a celebration and a reflection. since releasing his first project star in 2021, he has built a sound shaped by emotional storytelling and atmospheric production. this release represents hunger, belief and the mindset that first pushed him into music, now reframed with more experience behind it. it’s his best single yet, and we’ll be blasting this one all summer.
thank u for making this joey p. 🎂
satellite love – nova blu
nova blu turns emotional distance into a smooth, cinematic r&b-pop beauty
satellite love is a sleek r&b-pop track built around silky melodies, atmospheric production and the feeling of trying to reach someone who feels emotionally far away. its nostalgic 2000s textures sit inside a modern, late-night sound, giving the chorus a smooth pull that stays with you. like a lot of the best r&b, the groove is slightly tough, in all the best ways. and by the chorus. we’re fully, fully sold on.
nova blu is an emerging independent r&b and pop artist developed under ss records digital label, blending human-written lyrics, soulful storytelling and future-facing vocal performance. the release balances vulnerability and confidence, drawing from dream pop, future soul and smooth contemporary r&b. with its intimate mood and cinematic production, it feels made for late-night drives, complicated connections and moments where love feels like a signal fading in space. an essential listen this week.
thank u for making this nova blu 🛰️
pg bama (the go-go anthem) – dem boyz from gorgeous
dem boyz from gorgeous turn grief into a beautifully joyful single and go-go celebration
pg bama (the go-go anthem) is a high-energy go-go track with bounce, call-and-response spirit and a deep sense of place. built from rhythm, community and cultural pride, it turns movement into remembrance while keeping the sound bright, physical and ready for shared celebration. it wastes zero time in getting down to the most infectious rhythm, vocal interplay and fun whistles.
dem boyz from gorgeous bring together frank cisco “steel” anderson and lavell “magnus” copeland, rooted in prince george’s county, maryland. the song was created as a vow to their late sister dj k-la, transforming loss into a living anthem for the dmv and beyond. recorded close to home during a snowstorm, it carries the heat of a fun basement session, the pulse of go-go history and the belief that joy can still be resistance. a real banger.
thank u for making this dem boyz from gorgeous 🌍
faded blue (blue-grey thursday) – shake my days
shake my days turn dusk-lit loneliness into tender, cinematic indie wonder
faded blue (blue-grey thursday) is a melancholic indie-pop track wrapped in dreamy guitar textures, soft emotional vocals and subtle retro colour. inspired by walking alone through a quiet city at dusk, it sits between memory and reality, carrying a blue-grey atmosphere that feels intimate, film-like and gently unresolved. i love the city pop vibes, one of my favourite genres, and shake my days do not let us down.
shake my days are a kyoto-based indie pop duo blending nostalgic japanese guitar pop with dream pop, alternative pop and modern international indie sensibility. the release expands visually through tunnel scenes, blurred lights and muted tones, matching the song’s quiet city mood. rather than chasing polished mainstream pop, they focus on emotional nuance, everyday tension and the warmth that can sit inside loneliness. it’s beautiful, and we’ll be watching this group very closely this year.
thank u for making this shake my days 🌆
