heron delivers a stunning technicolour psychedelic pop single with wonderful depth
something nothing wastes no time in jumping right in with a lovely, warm pulse, built on vintage piano chords, boom bap drums and heron’s trademark crunchy harmonies and wonderfully produced vocals. it gradually opens out into a banger of a chorus, a quirky mid section that keeps everyone guessing, before bringing things home in restless, infectious style. it’s compelling, rainbow bright and an utterly brilliant production.
friend of the blog Heron, based in the uk, creates everything independently from his analogue studio, shaping a sound that blends blues, psychedelia, and off-kilter pop into something that somehow ends up being cohesive. lyrically, the track explores time, space, and the search for meaning, asking questions rather than offering answers. which is totally fine with us, when it sounds this good.
as one of our fave artists we’ve discovered on this blog, we just can’t wait for more. it’s great.
thank u for making this heron ๐
