'our little pooh pea (the last light) 4 - cinematic' started life as a guitar solo played over another c'batch composition entirely. rather than leave it buried, he pulled the performance out of its original setting and rebuilt everything around it: new production, new atmosphere, a whole different emotional story. the guitar becomes the lead voice here, moving through electronic textures and ambient washes that feel filmic and unhurried. there's space in the arrangement, lovely chords, and a sense of room for the listener to project their own narrative onto what's happening. the title points toward that threshold moment between darkness and hope, and the music earns it without spelling anything out. it's a rich, patient and striking piece of work.
only a few days after 'next time (i won't be falling/you've got me falling)', friend of the blog c'batch is back. stephen h. cumberbatch is a composer, producer and guitarist from white plains, new york, with roots stretching back to the city's early-80s dance scene. his publishing credits include 'i need you now' by sinnamon and 'let me do you' featuring will downing. in 2026 he opened his archives with the vault, a multi-volume series spanning decades of unreleased material. there's depth here, and we're very keen to hear more.
