M0N0 JAY TURNS SWEAT INTO POP ON L.L.L.

m0n0 jay delivers a stunning high-camp club pop explosion

l.l.l. (lift lift lick it) isn’t about easing you in, it all about throws you straight into a neon-lit world where movement and self-expression collide. from the first hit, it all very physical, built on a pulse that mirrors the body itself, fast, repetitive, and tricky to ignore. there’s a real playfulness at its’ heart, and it’s the ambitious take on pop that we love.

m0n0 jay, based in stockholm, operates entirely on her own terms. as a solo creative force, she builds her world from scratch, sound, visuals, and concept all feeding into a single vision. her music blends art pop, dance pop, and industrial club textures, creating something that somehow has a heady cocktail of polished and raw at the same time .

at its core, l.l.l. is driven by a hypnotic, mischievous hook, the standout xylophone line that sticks instantly, cutting through heavy, distorted bass and relentless rhythm. the repeated chorus mantra is a wonderful earworm, hinting at sweetness against something darker underneath. and while the tempo skirts the edge of being firmly in club territory, it still works in that context, through sheer character.

there’s a deliberate rejection of perfection running through the track. where a lot of pop leans into polish and idealised images, l.l.l. feels scattered in a really freeing way. it’s very CSS in parts, but then goes harder, then into a more melodic refrain. the end section is my favourite, where a lot of the parts come together, in a final crescendo.

the concept behind the song pushes this even further. instead of framing the gym as a place of discipline or transformation, mono jay reimagines it as a pop-art playground. the “candy gym” aesthetic replaces rigid ideals with colour, humour, and exaggeration. like most great pop, it’s got a surreal edge, and why shouldn’t be movement be focused into something more joyful?

in modern times – and especially as women – our bodies are framed and judged endlessly. i love the sense of fun, liberating absurdity that runs through the heart of this; carefully challenging how we are categorised and talked about.

overall l.l.l. (lift lift lick it) is one of our fave singles this year. it’s not asking for permission, it doesn’t explain itself, it just exists. in a space where so much music still feels like it’s chasing approval, that confidence stands out. it’s pop as power, but rooted in presence rather than performance.

thank u for making this m0n0 jay 🍭
