we’ve got a healthy dose of emotionally rich set today, moving from cathartic slow rock to jazz-tinged pop and cinematic electronica. they’re all fantastic, so why don’t we dive in 🏊♂️
so over you – project rod williams
project rod williams delivers a dark, cathartic single that turns heartbreak into wonderfully defiant clarity
so over you opens with brooding piano tension and a slow-burning rock weight, built around a really solid song and gritty guitar layers. the track leans into the best kind of big, emotional pop rock vibes, and its emotional punch certainly does not miss. the chorus, in particular, is crafted well enough for me to be singing this one all day.
project rod williams, based in the washington dc metro area, channels personal experiences of betrayal into a reimagined version of this track. shaped through an intimate home studio process and an experimental use of generative tools, the release represents a moment of closure and self-worth, reframing heartbreak as something resolute and forward-facing. it’s a beautifully put together single.
thank u for making this project rod williams 🙏
any day now – audra watt
audra watt crafts a bright, jazz-laced pop stunner centred on self-belief and beautiful timing
any day now bursts through with upbeat energy, carried by jazzy chord progressions and a distinctive muted trumpet tone in the latter section. the production is incredibly tasteful, balancing vintage character with a crisp modern pop finish, giving the track both a lot of lovely warmth and momentum. the song is the star, though, with a craft and shape that i really love.
audra watt, a nashville-based songwriter, uses this release as the opening statement to a wider project exploring timing and self-discovery. rooted in her jazz background, the track reflects a shift from waiting to acting, capturing the moment where intention turns into movement, all while maintaining a sense of optimism and personal clarity. it’s beautiful music for a sunday, and it’s straight on our playlists 🙂
thank u for making this audra watt 🙏
as i fall i feel alive – brother dolly
brother dolly create a beautifully cinematic indie pop soundscape for the digital age
as i fall i feel alive unfolds with a downtempo pulse that hums along with energy, blending found sounds, samples, and textured instrumentation. from the off, this is compelling stuff, and i’m finding it hard to not to focus on how good the snare sounds and actually review the track. thankfully, the chorus groove comes in and we’re firmly into groovy pop banger territory.
friend of the blog brother dolly explore themes of risk, sensation, and human instinct through this release, drawing inspiration from the moment of impact and the psychology around it. as their second release, it builds on an emerging identity rooted in cinematic electronica, where curiosity and tension sit side by side in a carefully shaped sonic space. it’s absolutely fantastic, and we can’t wait for more.
thank u for making this brother dolly 🙏
the resonance – the lazz
the lazz delivers a beautifully emotive, concept-driven sound that rocks very, very hard
the resonance jumps in with a stunning heavy guitar lick that’s layered against expansive, high-impact production. the track feels all about that weight and atmosphere, combining live instrumentation with digitally shaped textures to create a full, immersive sound that just sounds like the biggest rock banger of the year. i think it’s got the most kick drums i’ve ever heard in a song, and it’s all the better for it.
led by the lazz, the project draws on decades of experience while embracing new production methods to realise long-developed ideas. and realised they most certainly are. rooted in themes of psychology and self-exploration, this release represents a bridge between traditional musicianship and contemporary tools, offering a structured and thoughtful approach to modern rock expression. it’s a real banger.
thank u for making this the lazz 🙏
