today’s pop picks move through atmospheric vulnerability, digital unease, cosmic romance and home-built storytelling. these four tracks bring together electronic texture, emotional clarity and distinct independent voices.
heart – never enough in love
never enough in love turns fragility into a beautifully poised, motionally charged pop stunner
never enough in love’s new single ‘heart‘ sits in a spacious pop world built from fragile bon iver-esque vocals, textured electronics and slow-burning emotional tension. there’s a touch of that great jamie xx to this track, carrying a dark pulse, a delicate atmosphere combined with stunning vocals. there’s enough space for vulnerability without letting the song lose its sense of hope or quiet lift.
never enough in love is the project of worthing songwriter and producer neil durrant, whose music leans into intimate drama and carefully shaped production. his work has already drawn praise for its specific atmosphere, tenderness and emotional depth, with a demo of heart reaching listeners through streaming and international tv placements. rooted in empathy rather than ego, the song feels lived-in, human and made for anyone who finds beauty in being open. we really, really love it.
thank u for making this never enough in love 🖤
l.e.o – jana tyrrell
jana tyrrell’s new standout single makes digital anxiety feel warped, lush and beautifully human
l.e.o is a textural electronic pop track wrapped in moody synths, garage-leaning drums and stacked choral harmonies. it’s produced with a real edge that we love, and it’s the combination of the vocals and production flourishes that knock this right into banger territory. the song moves through digital anxiety and the strange modern fear of not knowing whether to trust your own senses, making unease feel both intimate and immersive.
jana tyrrell is a london artist, producer and vocalist with roots in television music, film scores, bands and collaborations, most recently with vapourware duo donor lens. created with rick david, whose credits span jazz, film and electronic production, this release draws from sophie, autechre and imogen heap while carving out its own warped atmosphere. as the fourth single from her upcoming debut album, it feels detailed, restless and emotionally wired. one of our favourite singles this june, it’s fantastic.
thank u for making this jana tyrrell 🌀
royal ruby – ray gibbz
ray gibbz turns heritage and mythology into beautifully cinematic independent pop-rap
royal ruby is a wonderfully home-built pop-rap track with a story-led centre, following ray gibbz on a quest to find an ancient artifact tied to his heritage. its cinematic idea gives the song a different kind of appeal and pull, moving away from familiar themes into mythology, lineage and personal discovery. i love people doing stuff in their own way, in their own lane, and ray pushes ticks all the boxes here. musically, it’s great and his relaxed flow really lands.
ray gibbz is a san diego artist, rapper, producer and songwriter who creates from his apartment studio with focus, patience and deep commitment to the craft. inspired by his african heritage and ancestral imagination, this release connects past and present through the image of a lost royal ruby made by three ancient goddesses. raw in process but clear in vision, it shows an artist building his own world. we can’t wait to hear more.
thank u for making this ray gibbz 💎
this is where the story ends – amelia louise
amelia louise turns goodbye into a soaring, vulnerable slow-pop summer highlight
this is where the story ends is a lovely, slow-tempo pop track built around a great vocal, intimate harmonies, and the ache of finally letting go. we’ve been there, amelia, and it hurts doesn’t it. the track does a great job of capturing the feeling, its softer pace gives amelia louise’s wall-of-sound vocal approach a new emotional shape, turning heartbreak into something restrained, sad and carefully held. i love the vocal flourishes and harmonies, they really help the track to soar.
friend of the blog amelia louise is an emerging artist from st albans, england, recording from a homemade studio in her spare bedroom. she writes and produces with her dad, who handles the instrumentals while she builds vocals, backing tracks and harmonies, with both working on lyrics. shaped by the need to fully release a relationship in order to heal, the song shows her range, resilience and ability to turn personal challenge into creative strength. it’s her best one yet, and we’re keeping a close eye on amelia louise.
thank u for making this amelia louise 🕊️
