TODAY’S ROCK PICKS

today’s rock picks bring together roadtrip pop-punk, high-speed indie hooks, widescreen stadium melody and blues-rock release. these four tracks are built on big feeling, sharp choruses and full-throttle personality.

hey maria – deer park avenue

deer park avenue bring a compelling brand of youthful pop-punk back with roadtrip-ready force

hey maria returns as a reimagined roadtrip version of deer park avenue’s anthemic pop-punk debut, pushing the song into a brighter, heavier and more immediate space. driven by a punchy rhythm section and full-band energy, it has the kind of chorus built for summer afternoons, open windows, loud rooms and shared momentum. my fave in this track is the vocals and the melody line, it’s really catchy but not in a overly sugary way.

deer park avenue are international sister duo sarah snyder and steph snyder, whose chemistry gives the track its heart and snap. originally written when they were teenagers, the song now comes back through the lens of experience, mentorship and their rockstar nation movement in munich. produced by reto peter and featuring bassist matt bissonette, it feels like a full-circle pop-rock rush. it’s a great single and we’ll be digging into the rest of their stuff this summer.

romeo ohio – euplasia

euplasia turns internet rise-and-fall chaos into a chant-ready indie-pop blast

romeo ohio hits fast with punchy guitars, driving rhythms and a chant-along chorus that feels built for festival crowds and indie disco sticky floors. it’s a quick one this one, concise to great effect, turning euphoric indie-rock energy into something bright, slightly reckless and sharply melodic. it’s produced wonderfully, and is just crafted with a lot of care.

euplasia is an nhs doctor and multi-instrumental songwriter carving out a distinctive place in modern uk indie. after earlier releases exploring parenthood, imagination and neurodivergence, this track looks outward at modern hype culture and the strange spectacle of public downfall. the lyrics follow the climb, the applause and the crash that can come with chasing attention too hard. it is immediate, colourful and packs an emotional push that we love. definitely an introverted disco recommended tune this week.

alone tonight – daniel trigger

daniel trigger brings arena-sized melody into a powerful pop-rock return

alone tonight glitches in before exploding into a rock banger. daniel trigger’s love of stadium rock is front and centre, pairing big hooks, powerful melodies and a widescreen chorus with the emotional charge of a proper comeback. built to feel at home in an arena, the track carries that classic melodic rock weight while keeping its centre clear and direct. the guitar work is hot in this, and it’s got bags of fists in the air character.

daniel trigger is a midlands-based singer-songwriter whose music has long been shaped by bon jovi, queen, guns n roses and def leppard. after years of bands, solo albums and a difficult period away from original music, this release reconnects him with the mission he first felt as a young musician. with profits supporting mind uk, the song is not just rocking my afternoon, it’s doing some good too. a great single.

you and the blues – michael vdelli and the art of dysfunction

michael vdelli and the art of dysfunction deliver the cimematic, blues-rock stunner of the month

you and the blues sits in a spacious blues-rock world, led by aching guitar tone, steady rhythm and a vocal mood that feels exposed without losing strength. the arrangement is fantastic, and the vdelli’s vocals even better. even note is given the room to breathe, letting sustain, phrasing and controlled dynamics deliver a straight to the heart banger. the spiky later section takes things higher, and the whole thing plays out in style.

michael vdelli and the art of dysfunction bring together experience and young firepower, creating a lineup built on groove, tone and live intensity. the song moves through images of ocean, lighthouse, fire and survival, turning pain into something stripped back and honest. rather than chasing flash, it leans into atmosphere and restraint, landing as a quiet anthem for anyone who has come through the fire with only truth left. it’s a real stunner and we really love it.

thank u for making this michael vdelli and the art of dysfunction 🔥
