a lovely, thoughtful and mixed selection today, where indie dives into storytelling, experimentation and emotional honesty. let’s go!
speak the truth – daniel karl morgan
daniel karl morgan delivers a playful indie pop cut full of character and melodic heart
Speak the Truth driven by bright acoustic guitar and a loose, groovy rhythm, carries a light, almost nursery-rhyme feel. the bright, layered instrumentation, with a smidge of coffee and tv style vibe, gives the track a lovely sense of forward motion. but it’s the vocals that are the real standout, pushing it slap bang into banger territory.
daniel karl morgan, a welsh songwriter with years of experience across bands and solo work, uses this release to showcase a more playful and composition-led side of his writing. taken from a wider album project, the track reflects his interest in unusual chord structures and narrative-driven songwriting, pointing to an artist comfortable balancing craft, humour and musical depth. it’s genuinely brilliant.

i want to go out tonight – liam naughton & the educators
liam naughton shapes a guitar-led indie stunner driven by energy, movement and emotional pull
i want to go out tonight is built around steady guitar lines and a direct rhythmic drive, capturing a restless sense of momentum from the outset. it’s a little unclear where it’s all going, but i really like that, especially with the blend of 90s-inspired textures, nick mccabe-esque guitars and some fantastic production flourishes. and when things ramp up into a fuller band sound, i’m sold.
liam naughton, an irish-born songwriter now based in perth, marks a renewed creative chapter with this release. created through a mix of home recording and collaborative production, the track reflects themes of escape and emotional release after heartbreak. it positions naughton within a guitar-driven indie space, with a clear emphasis on honesty and accessible songwriting. it’s brilliant.

allarme rosso nel golfo persico – fiori del male
fiori del male deliver a bold indie rock statement rooted in urgency, tension and real world reflection
allarme rosso nel golfo persico shaped by driving instrumentation and a sense of controlled intensity, carries a weight that builds across its runtime. the track leans into darker tonal shifts and layered production, allowing its atmosphere to mirror the seriousness of its subject. but it’s the guitar work that really stuns here, but not just in a virtuoso way, it provides a foundation for a fantastic song.
fiori del male, a long-standing collective from naples, approach music as both expression and commentary. this release revisits material originally written during the gulf crisis, reworking it for a modern context while retaining its urgency. it reflects a commitment to politically engaged songwriting, positioning the group as artists focused on message as much as sound. i can’t wait to hear more from these guys.

grown out of it – pwan
pwan creates an emotive indie electronic moment built on dreamy AF production and questions about connection
grown out of it is carried by Múm-esque, bright electronic textures and soft rhythmic pulses, building a lovely kind of cosmic lightness with bags and bags of emotion. the production is fantastic, the bass sounds like a dream, and there’s a wonderful sort of airy, nature-inspired atmos. my verdict? honestly, a lot to love here, especially some compelling chord changes that you might not expect in this space.
pwan, drawing from personal experience of distance and changing friendships, uses this release to explore themes of time, memory and connection. influenced by emerging electronic styles, the track blends indie sensibility with digital textures, creating something both personal and contemporary. it basically slaps and i’m very excited to hear more.
