TODAY’S ROCK PICKS

let’s get stuck into today’s punchy mix of grit and atmosphere. from protest-driven energy to introspective unease, these tracks serve up a great reminder of rock’s ability to feel the biggest emotions.

psychopathy – honeycut

honeycut channel razor sharp riffs into a stunningly fierce and confrontational modern rock statement

psychopathy hits from the off with jagged guitar lines and a tight, driving rhythm that leans into 90s alt-rock punch. the vocal really cuts through, the harmonies great, the pre-chorus is so good that it feels like the chorus, and THEN an even better chorus hits.

honeycut, the los angeles duo of ash kalina and justin portis, use this release to sharpen their identity around politically aware songwriting and era-blending rock textures. it’s a clear step into banger territory this one, and i can’t wait to hear more.

thank u for making this honeycut 🔥

see me fall – eddie & the wolves

eddie & the wolves build a towering and emotional rock anthem full of longing and force

see me fall opens with a sense of groovy tension before expanding into a huge, layered chorus driven by thick guitars and stacked vocals. the scale feels really compelling, pushing the song to a really impactful place.

eddie & the wolves, rework an earlier track into something far more expansive, reflecting their growth into a confident and fully realised band. the song balances personal vulnerability with a broader call for connection and understanding. it’s exciting stuff and it’s genuinely great.

press – din nyc

din nyc delivers a raw, urgent and endearing protest track that genuinely slaps

press rides a loose, livewire groove with sharp guitar tones and an unpolished edge that gives it immediacy. the melody carries a kind of insistent, classic rock feel while the delivery keeps things to the point.

din nyc, draws from a wide background across yorkshire, the us and new york’s underground scene, using this release as a pointed political statement. it continues his move into solo work with substance at the core. it’s produced like a dream, and i’d really, really like to hear more.

i might be an alien – lee switzer-woolf

lee switzer-woolf crafts a genuinely fantastic glitchy rock atmosphere that sticks with you

i might be an alien drifts through sparse guitars, a beautiful vocal and electronic textures, creating a kinda unsettling and jittery vibe. it’s reminiscent of lots of music we love; de rosa, the national, and maybe eraser-era thom yorke, but it’s definitely in it’s own lane. notably, it also feels wonderfully english.

lee switzer-woolf, based in reading, leans into a darker and more experimental direction with this release. it reflects a shift towards exploring identity and routine through a more atmospheric rock lens. it’s brilliant, and one of the favourite things i’ve heard this year.

thank u for making this lee switzer-woolf 🔥
