an stunning alt-indie EP charting a return to faith
songs for a spirit feels less like a lot less like debut and more like a rediscovery. across four tracks, hunter gorgas traces a spiritual reawakening that is wonderfully personal without being performative. the north-carolina based artist delivers an EP rooted in faith and introspection, carefully sharing it’s message. and importantly, doing a fine job of sounding brilliant along the way. we’re really happy to share it at introver disco.
opening track iβll give you the praise carries a sense of origin story. built around a wonderful melody, literally dreamt by it’s author. part- woozy indie classic, it builds a solid foundation of gratitude and praise for the EP. a great opener.
only thing i want picks up the pace and energy. it seems to wrestle with ambition and memory, tracing childhood desires and the slow realisation that chasing recognition can leave things a little hollow.
“I chased fame through playing football even though deep down I never loved it, and it’s about how I kind of did the same with music for a little while”
Musically, it’s a really, really brilliant vocal performance, balancing reflective lyricism with dynamic instrumental swells, allowing vulnerability to sit comfortably beside growth. It’s great.

were you there? feels like the spiritual centre of the ep. a little more cinematic, it leans fully into faith as identity. rather than grand statements, the power comes from simplicity, from the belief that music itself is itself the most spiritual of act.
closing track rest, and personal fave, shifts the palette slightly. introducing subtle forward thinking production, with a tasteful autotune in the mix, it’s a real standout moment. when thing open out into the chorus, i’m really sold.
produced in collaboration with dan drohan, the sound is fantastically conceived, and the songs are crafted briliantly. the result is a spiritually-charged project that we’ll definitely return to time and time again this year. and we for one, honestly can’t wait to hear more.
thank u for making this hunter gorgas π€
