post-punk with a purpose and a wonderful, angry glow
this one hits with a bit of a jolt, rather than a swell. i felt alert straight away, ‘just a few milligrams‘ is the new one from blindess & light pulls your attention back to the room you’re standing, and the world we’re living in. it definitely feels necessary right now.
blindness & light are an anglesey-based collective drifting between post-punk instincts and whatever feels right in the moment, and they’re also a friend of the blog, which makes this land with extra weight. led by colin m potter, with voices and players dropping in as needed, they move like people who value freedom more than polish. and the result is this anti-racist banger that we’ve returned to time and time again today.
like they’re previous stuff, the sound definitely keeps its teeth, with a stunning vocal performance, guitars strum along and the rhythm stays locked but loose enough to breathe. this feels like a song made because it had to exist, not because it fit a cycle or a plan. sort of a reminder that music can still say vital things about the world. we love it.
thank u for making this blindness & light ❤️
