an indie pop rush that leans into nostalgia without getting stuck
first listen and i smiled before i meant to. it hit fast, bright, and a bit reckless. ’17’ speaks to that bit of your heart that knows you’re an adult while your brain doesn’t. it feels like windows down energy, even if you’re just standing in the kitchen waiting for the kettle.
tahani is a singer songwriter from coleford in the forest of dean, working in that punchy indie pop lane with early 2000s bones. there’s a lived in honesty to her writing that doesn’t ask for sympathy. she just says it how it lands. you can tell this comes from someone who’s been carrying a lot and still wants things to feel fun, sort of defiantly so.
the guitars come in bold and bouncy, all avril lavigne forward motion, while the hook sticks around in your head for the rest of theday. nothing overworked here. it feels immediate, like it was written quickly because it needed to be. we love it.
thank u for making this tahani ❤️
