YEARN TURNS DREAMS INTO DIMENSIONAL SOUND

in today’s mysterious musical postbag, we’ve come across a stunning debut album from seattle-based, but jakarta-born yearn.

‘shapeshifter’ hums along beautifully with mystery, pain, and soft rebirth. it’s a jazzy, bedroom pop genre smash that always sort of just makes sense, weaving lo-fi sketches and tapey textures into an origin story told through shifting tones. field recordings, pitch-warped strings, and vivid pop moments all ride along together, never seeming to get in each other’s way.

standout banger ‘midnight mine’ is my absolute fave. it goes from sad bedroomy piano, groovy musings of love and then the biggest cutest indie pop hook of the year. all in under three minutes. an absolute stunner.

it’s dazzling, strange, and entirely human.

thank u for making this yearn ❤️
