Like a Real Thing – Creepy Crawly

this one feels like it was written in the folky, afterglow margins of life. half-dreaming – a quiet scream behind doors.

this manchester-based alt-folk shapeshifter wraps crystal vocals around melodies that flicker between eerie, raw and softly defiant. influences float through – cat power, big thief, anne briggs – but the voice is wholly her own : sharp, tender, a little exhausted, and a bit hopeful. the production’s great, the songs are brilliant and stand out banger ‘slowly flows the river’ makes me very very happy to listen to – i know reviews are meant to use long words but fuck it.

it’s also just really nice to support brilliant women making music. the debut album (like a real thing) is also brilliant. we bloody well love it.

thank u for making this creepy crawly πŸ•ŠοΈ
