today’s mysterious musical postbox is giving us groove.
and not just any old groove. this one’s got groove deep in its bones and gold dust in its corners. ‘lampin’’ from synthonic is a lush, jazzy stunner of an album. it’s literally impossible not to nod your head and make that bass face that the bassist from haim makes.
‘all day, every day’ and the title track feel like centrepieces – stitched together with rich harmonies and a touch of 90s acid jazz.
best of all, it’s got bongos. bongos have always been unfairly maligned, and synthonic are here to prove the haters wrong. there’s care in every layer – the brass, the rhodes, damn the playing is a joy.
somehow recorded at home (?!) and brought to life on stage, lampin’ is warm, danceable, and an absolute vibe. if you ever needed a soundtrack for the golden hour, this might be it.
thank u for making this synthonic 💛
