Pine – Sundialler

sometimes a debut just lands in our mysterious musical postbag with the quiet confidence of someone who knows exactly what they’re doing. sundialler’s pine is exactly that. without a big splash, no need for it – just sixty-eight minutes of washed-out warmth and dreamlike stillness. i’m all over this.

this is electronica as slow cinema – granular, gliding, and sort of unhurried. fans of boards of canada, tycho, or yppah will find comforts here, but there’s a kind of handcrafted-ness to this which give the album it’s own shape.

i’ve never been to new zealand but if it sounds as good as this, we’ll be booking a flight. file under tape-hiss textures and ghosted trip-hop rhythms. the highlight: “asleep at the campfire” – a title that tells you everything you need to know.

thank you for making this, sundialler – we love it 🥰
