some bands just feel like a gang. 3rd deck are one of those. after forming in 2021, they’ve been writing, recording and keeping it diy. most of the best bands do, don’t they? i just don’t think there’s much better in life than a bunch of mates playing their fucking hearts out.
anyway, ‘the fallout’ is their third ep and it’s the most complete thing they’ve done so far.
this one’s been in the works for a while. all the the usual independent chaos – but it’s here now and it’s worth the wait. the record stretches out from their 90s alt-rock foundations into post-punk and even touches of prog, but it still feels unified. tight guitars, catchy riffs, and that kind of lived-in charm you only get when a band has played in a lot of pubs together.
if you’ve got time for big choruses and good mates making honest rock, start with ‘fallout’ and ‘chasing dreams’. then loop back to their 2023 ep ‘caution’ if you want to see how far they’ve come.
thank u for making this the fallout x
