Saturn in Chinos – Genevieve Sovereign

genevieve sovereign finds interstellar clarity on ‘saturn in chinos’

cinematic electro-pop meets introspective ritual in this deeply personal centrepiece to the starseeds wanted odyssey

melbourne-based artist genevieve sovereign is firmly in her own lane here. ‘saturn in chinos’ isn’t just the focus track of her debut album, it’s a moment of melodic ascent.

the track is the spiritual midpoint of the record, carrying a mix of cinematic grandeur. it’s sort of got a warm pulse of synth-pop, a quirkiness of bjork, with a lens of ambient.

genevieve produced and directed the video with long-time collaborators across two locations in melbourne. it lands somewhere between an art film and a meditation.

in her own words, the song “encapsulates what i’ve hoped to achieve for the album… it chronicles vital parts of my own journey as an artist and human.” and that feels right — there’s nothing manufactured here. just lived experience, carved into synths and static and a voice that reaches somewhere inward and upward at the same time.

if you’re into artists who follow their own stars — think ionnalee, grimes at her gentlest, or a more grounded imogen heap — this is one to spend time with.

thank u for making this genevieve sovereign x
