Whirpool – FRUM

frum’s new album whirlpool is one of those rare records that feels like it’s always existed. i dunno if i’ve dreamt about some of this beauty before, and are only just remembering. this 10-track album from the faroese artist (real name jenný kragesteen) is a luminous walk through transformation, connection, and surrender.

built with a focus on amplifying female voices in production – which we fucking love – whirlpool carries a clarity. the arrangements are stark but soft, immersive but full of spacious too

‘sun aura’, co-produced with norwegian rising star moyka, is a highlight. “it’s inspired by nietzsche’s lion in thus spoke zarathustra,” frum says. “it captures the moment of transformation — stepping into your light, bold and unafraid.”

there’s motion throughout the whole record. even the more introspective tracks – like my personal fave ‘ride’ or the hauntingly minimal ‘choir’. sometimes it feels a little more like a looped, lucid dream of a record than a collection of tracks.

since her first single in 2016, she’s carved a path that’s feels her own – scoring netflix shows, playing reeperbahn, opening for morcheeba, and producing stunning visuals to match.

on whirlpool, she invites you into that. we’re only too happy to oblige

thank u for making this frum x
