The Moon of Manakoora – Atmosphere

this is something really special.

it’s not often music blows me away these days, but there’s something incredibly pure about this album from the moon of manakoora.

durham’s own, just 19 years old, creating ambient music completely independently – no budget, no backing, just raw talent and a clear artistic voice. and honestly, it takes a lot of front to start out as a 19-year-old ambient artist. respect.

atmosphere is a suite of slow-burning, drifting soundscapes, full of space and breath. jazz touches, drone textures, piano motifs – and this sort of olde worlde, slightly spooky wurlitzer vibe that i loved. it all flows like clouds reshaping themselves in slow motion.

sometimes the limitations make something really special. this album feels like it was made with pure intention and no ego, and i’ve got a lot of time for that.

i’ve no idea where manakoora is, but if they’re playing music like this in the streets, it sounds absolutely great.

file under: stillness, reflection, looking at the sky.

thank u for making this the moon of manakoora x
