there’s a real class and quality to this alt-country stomper from new hampshire-based derek astles. to a humble european, this stuff can sometimes miss the mark. but after ticking off some of the americana boxes we might expect – new orleans, poker, drink and cigarettes – it’s clear that there’s a real hook, and a heart to this.

honestly, it’s just got a vibe to it. and a story. i always talk about music that puts you into a world or delivers one clear thought, and this has it in spades. derek, you may not have the most rock n roll name, but you definitely have yourself a new fan.
